Depletion region changes due to applied voltage

If a voltage is applied in the correct sense that is pull the electrons towards the holes then the depletion region would narrow or disappear. If the applied voltage is in the incorrect sense that is pull the electrons and holes away from each other then the depletion region would grow bigger. In electronics we say , forward bias and reverse bias.Refer to wikibooks for some nice diagrams
