A nucleus undergoing decay gives off heat. Products having kinetic energy are emitted. The parent nuclei has smaller binding energy that the products. There is net energy released as the mass of nuclei is greater than the mass of the product. This difference is mass in equivalent to the energy released in the form of heat and kinetic energy.
