Formula Fun 14

Figure shows a stationary wave on a string stretched between two points A and F which are a distance L apart. Describe the oscillations of the points B, C, D and E . Compare these oscillations in terms of their relative phases and amplitudes. What is the wavelength in terms of L?
B : Stationary point i.e no displacement
C and E : Point osc with max amplitude
D: Point osc with smaller amplitude as compared to C and E.
Compare: Phase
C and D has opposite phase (antiphase or 180deg ) with E
Compare : Amplitude
C and E has the same amplitude which is larger than that of D.
The wavelength is L/2.
