Worksheet 19_ EMI

Q1 . The emf correspons the the velocity time graph as B and l is constant. Formula E = BLv
Q2. The change in B is 60mT divide by 5s. Hence E = NA (0.06/5)=0.16 V
The induced current flow down so that the flux produced to the right opposes the increase in flux to the left.

Q3. Higher potential is C. Use BLv to find emf . E = 6.0 v
c) The applied force is equal to the magnetic force F=BIL . The current can be found by dividing I = 6/5= 1.2 A. F= 3.6 N
d) The external force is necessary to keep the rod moving at constant vel as the magnetic force is acting towards the left.
e) P = I2R= (1.2)2 (5)=7.2W
f) The rod decelarate to a rest after the applied force is removed as the magnetic force still acts in the opp direction if current flow exist.
