Fundamentals: Atomic mass unit (u)

How much energy can 1 u released? Use E=mc2 , change the unit u to kg . The answer to this is 934 MeV. This exercise and hence info is very helpful when you want to check a massive calculation involving energy released by m of 0.05673u. Just multiply by 934 MeV and you have the answer 52.99 MeV. However you cannot use shortcut in exams and this is only for checking purposes.
