TYS gravitation tutorial (Q11 an dQ12)

TYS pg 73 Q19 and Q20
Q19
a) Draw a diagram of v and a . Remember they are vectors. Explain in terms of vector component of a in the direction of v. Is there any acceleration in the direction of v ? Can the velocity increase? Answer these questions and you would be answering the part a)
b) A geostationary satellite circles the Earth with a period of 24 hrs. Hence ii) require calculatons based on these formulas : 1. w 2. rw 3. a =v2/r 4. ma 5. F = GMm/r2
c) and d) use words like axis of rotation and tracking of satellite.
Q20.
i) Pull is force . Use GMm/r2 but keep focus on which is M and m of part 1 and 2
ii)and (iii) Force are vectors and hence resultant force will give acceleration.
iv) the resultant acceleration result in circular motion. Angular velocity w can be calculated.
v) Describe what you see(satellite) from your point on Earth by comparing the angular velocity of the satellite with that of the Earth around the sun .
vi) Compare this satellite with Earth satellite. What will be the impact of a large distance away from the Earth. Can you see the Sun at night?
