Accelerating potentials

Accelerating potentials increases the kinetic energy of the electron as work is done by the electric field (electric force acting in the direction of motion)
Decelerating potentials decreases the kinetic energy of the electron as work is done against the electric field (electric force acting opposite to direction of motion) .
If for a simple case where the initial/final ke is zero , the formula is in general,eV = KE
